Our boss' husband Shigiyoshi san was so kind to take us sight seeing around our city a few days after our arrival. This is Mike in front of the Seto Ohashi (the second largest suspension bridge in the world.) Shigiyoshi san actually helped build this bridge and is obviously very proud of it.

Mike, me, and Dan Hannon (a fellow English teacher for another school) enjoy the inland sea and the small beach.

About Us

Four months after we were married, we moved to the city of Marugame, located on one of Japan's southern islands called Shikoku. Our purpose of going there was to teach English as a second language. We worked for a small, private juku run by Fumi Morimura. As her school began to grow, she eventually bought Marugame International Academy and we worked under that company's name for the remainder of our stay in Japan. We taught students from age 2 to age 80 using our own lesson plans and curriculum. Our experience there was unforgettable. We loved learning about the Japanese culture, traveling the country, eating the food, but most importantly, we loved the people. We made many Japanese and foreign friends while we lived there, and still keep in contact with several of them. We hope to be able to visit that beautiful country again someday with our children.
