The Beginning!

This picture was taken on the plane before we departed for Japan. I can't get over how different we looked back then.

This picture was taken from the balcony of our new apartment the day after we arrived in Japan. The mountain behind Mike is dubbed "Sanuki Fuji" because it resembles Mt. Fuji, only on a much smaller scale.

A few days after we arrived in Japan, our boss and her family invited us to play baseball at the Dokigawa Koen ball diamonds. Behind us is Inoyama, also known as Sanuki Fuji.

These boys were polite enough to let us join their game.

One day we decided to climb that big mountain close to our house, Sanuki Fuji.

About Us

Four months after we were married, we moved to the city of Marugame, located on one of Japan's southern islands called Shikoku. Our purpose of going there was to teach English as a second language. We worked for a small, private juku run by Fumi Morimura. As her school began to grow, she eventually bought Marugame International Academy and we worked under that company's name for the remainder of our stay in Japan. We taught students from age 2 to age 80 using our own lesson plans and curriculum. Our experience there was unforgettable. We loved learning about the Japanese culture, traveling the country, eating the food, but most importantly, we loved the people. We made many Japanese and foreign friends while we lived there, and still keep in contact with several of them. We hope to be able to visit that beautiful country again someday with our children.
